My Newest Dilemma

Ok, maybe it's not a dilemma, but it has been taking up a lot of brain cells lately.  My son is three years old; he'll be four in June.  I don't quite remember being three or four, but I do remember starting school in the Pre-Kindergarten.  Like most parents, I think my son is very bright; therefore, I want to make sure he goes to a good school...one where he's challenged.  I don't want him to come across teachers who will push him along to get him out of their hair (Disclaimer: I'm not saying all teachers are like this!), nor do I want him to become bored with his work.  So I've been doing my research.  Many schools have started their registrations.  Others don't start until early spring.  Our local schools only have half-day sessions.  The schools near my job (or en route to my job) have full day sessions.

How would you choose your child's school?  Would you send your child to your local school?  Is public school, private school, or a Christian school your choice?  Should kids have half-day or full day Pre-Kindergarten?

Sidenote: I REALLY cannot believe my baby is going to be four this year!  Boy, does time fly?!

  1. I personally don't have any children, but I would suggest full day sessions because it helps him prepare for Kindergarten and the remainder of his school years. My parents put my sister and I into private schools which I feel are good for the early years of schooling, but once I got to the 9th grade, I began to realize that the particular school I was attending in Baltimore County area wasn't fully preparing me for college, so I transferred to a public school in Harford County which worked out fine for me. Now it's been a long time since I've attended that private school, and they've expanded since then, so that's not to say things haven't changed and they've better their curriculum...
My suggestion would be to visit the schools themselves (if you have the time) or ask them for some sort of list of their curriculum. Always follow your "MOMMY INSTINCT" too, it's there for a reason. Most of all, make sure you PRAY for guidance on which school is best for Kam :)
